What is a drive-in rack?

The drive-in rack is a storage system with high storage efficiency. The derived structure in the shelf is different from other shelf. Column structure mainly has side and vertical strength. All pallets are placed on the guide rail of the support arm connected to the pillar. Most high density in-warehouse pallet rack systems are only smaller than the traditional pallet rack systems. After modification and reinforcement, they can meet the strict requirements of warehousing applications. Main features of drive in racking:

1. Storage rack is customized according to pallet, cargo size and handling equipment.

2. Can be used with standard handling equipment.

3. Space utilization can be optimized by adjustable slide rail.

4. Eliminate many work channels

5. Very suitable for regular circulation of products

6. The through rack can provide a FIFO principle

What are the different types of drive-in rack systems?

1.Single entry racking: these types of racking include forklifts only accessible from one side only.

2. Double entry rack: unlike single entry rack, double entry rack can enter the forklift aisle from both sides. The center USES a large beam to hold a row of racks in place

How does the drive-in rack work?

The Drive In pallet rack system stores pallets, which are driven into the rack system by a forklift operator and loaded onto a horizontal rail. Then, when the trays need to be moved, the driver moves the trays away from the same entry point where they were loaded. Rack drive systems are usually placed against a wall or closed at one end of the system. The through-train pallet storage system is based on the same concept, but is located in an open area, so the forklift can fully drive the entire rack system.

However, the drive-in shelves is not without potential drawbacks. This is not the best choice in terms of optional or adaptive rotational inventory requirements, as all products in a given bracket must be unloaded to reach the last pallet. Another potential drawback is that if you don't ship a sufficient number of similar products, you may get a "honeycomb" effect by not making the most of the shelves.

1.To protect your people, products, and racks, all types of pallet rack systems must be safely loaded. As the forklift enters and exits the rack system, the importance of safety in loading pallets into the inbound system cannot be overstated. The operator shall enter the system slowly and consciously and shall be careful to avoid hitting the vertical frame of the system. Before using the system, verify that the forklift to be used is size compatible with the rack system.

2. Safe to carry pallet rack is similar to safe loading. The drive-in rack system can be very deep and forklift operators must be extremely careful when exiting the system. While speed is important in most operations, safety is always a top priority, and below the system, it is not safe in any way and can collide with columns.

3. Since the forklift operator is operating within the rack system, it is important to ensure that the drive-in pallet rack system remains stable. Although drive-in rack systems generally require minimal maintenance, periodic safety checks are strongly recommended to ensure that no damage has occurred that could compromise structural integrity or operator safety. During the inspection, the emphasis is to check whether the frame is damaged, whether the anchorage is loose and whether the pallet rail is damaged.

Frequently asked questions about the drive-in rack

1.How to protect the drive in racking from forklift damage? The drive-in pallet rack system is particularly vulnerable to damage to the forklift because the forklift operator is required to drive the forklift into the system itself. However, the risk of forklift damage can be controlled by following some simple safety precautions. One of these safety measures is the use of reinforced or slope-legged frames (or both) to provide greater protection angles and a stronger frame structure. Another popular and cost-effective option is to install column shields to protect the frame from potential forklift collisions.

2. What is a typical delivery time for drive in racking? Because the drive system is built on a project basis, the lead time is typically between 8 and 12 weeks. The only real variable that may affect a given length of delivery is the approval process as determined by the regulator or the customer themselves.

3. Can I reconfigure the drive in the tray rack? The drive-in rack system can be reconfigured. However, there will be limitations, such as adjusting lane width.

4. Can the drive-in rack be used in conjunction with other rack systems such as pallet flow or push-back? The combination of drive-in shelves and other rack systems, especially the push-back pallet rack, is common and provides a highly customizable combination of selectivity and storage density.

In addition to the practical convenience of the drive in racking, it also has good economic benefits. If you are looking for a supplier of drive in racking that can provide you with high quality products at reasonable prices, Jiangsu NOVA Intelligent Logistics Equipment Co., Ltd. will be a wise choice.
