What are the structural features and design requirements of drive in pallet racking?

Publish Time: 2021-10-18     Origin: Site

Drive in pallet racking is a kind of whole building type racking that is not divided by aisles and is continuous, that is, it is discharged by multiple rows of racks together without aisles, and each layer and each column of racks are next to each other. It is also this kind of continuous discharge way, which makes the warehouse space can be used to a greater extent, than the ordinary pallet racking to improve almost double the storage capacity. So, what are the structural features of drive in pallet racking? And what are its design requirements? Next are some introductions.

Here are some of them.

Structural features

The pallets are stored in the depth direction on the support rails, one right after the other, making high-density storage possible. Access to the goods is from the same side of the drive in pallet racking, first in and last out, and forklift trucks can easily drive into the middle of the racking to access the goods. It is suitable for storing large quantities and small varieties of goods, with a strong load-bearing capacity and beautiful appearance. The total depth of the racking, which can be accessed from both sides in the middle area, is usually within 9 pallets in-depth, to improve the efficiency and reliability of forklift access. Forklift trucks are required and are often equipped with forklift trucks such as forklift trucks or counterbalanced battery forklifts. Drive in pallet racking is widely used in various warehouses and logistics centers, such as food, tobacco, dairy, beverage, and other industries, and is also common in cold storage.

Design requirements

Pallet depth requirements

One-way (against the wall) racking depth is best controlled within 6 pallets, and two-way (middle area can be taken from both sides) racking depth is best controlled within 12 pallets to improve the efficiency and reliability of forklift access.

Height and other requirements

Drive in pallet racking should not be too high, usually should be controlled within 10 meters, and to strengthen the stability of the entire racking system, in addition to the specifications, the selection should be larger, but also must be added to pull the solid device. The single pallet of goods should not be too big and heavy, usually, the weight should be controlled within 1500KG, and the pallet span should not be greater than 1.5m.

Color requirements

Drive in pallet racking is mainly used for accessing goods by forklift trucks. The colors of the columns and beams should preferably be different and should be clearly distinguishable from each other, e.g., blue and orange, and the colors of the guard columns should preferably be different and distinct from the colors of the columns and beams.

Forklift truck parameter restrictions

By knowing the type and parameters of the forklift truck, the depth of the load to be picked up and the size of the forklift can be determined, thus determining the size of the unit drive in pallet racking and the overall length, width, and height.
